Nurse services form an integral part of our General Practice. Our nurses are part of your health care team, working in collaboration with your GP to provide you with specialist care that meets your health needs. Our nurses are highly skilled, highly trained and dedicated to working with you to achieve your health goals.
Nurse Practitioners in General Practice
A Nurse Practitioner is a highly qualified and experienced nurse who has been endorsed by the Nurses and Midwives Board as a specialist in their field. Nurse Practitioners can work autonomously, within their scope of practice, and have the authority to prescribe medications and request pathology and imaging services (such as x-ray and ultrasounds). Nurse Practitioner services attract a Medicare rebate.
Denise was awarded her endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner in 2012. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree in the United States in 1987 and has since worked in a range of hospital and community environments. Working in Emergency rooms in the 1990s, Denise developed an interest in Health Promotion and completed a Master’s degree in that field at the University of Georgia in 1995. She has worked for the past 10 years in General Practice and has a strong passion for chronic disease care, preventative health and patient education.
Anna, Kate, Loryn, Leanne and Amanda are our friendly Practice Nurses who are ready to help our patients and GPs in any way they can. You may see our nursing team assisting our GPs with surgical procedures, performing vaccinations and childhood immunisations, performing warfarin testing, ECGs or lung function tests, conducting health assessments and chronic disease care, attending to wound care, or just checking on you before you see your GP.
